As a native of The Netherlands, Carlos has had an interesting route to this position. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. Out of college, Carlos went down the food and beverage management route by managing a chain of frozen yogurt shops but eventually opened his own franchise restaurant followed by a food truck, and even owned a miniature golf course. Shortly after selling those businesses Carlos joined the management team at Waffle House Restaurants. This experience was instrumental regarding staff training, cost of goods control, and customer consistency expectations. Carlos was not looking for a career change but while being a member at Heron Lakes, the opportunity presented itself for the General Manager position and it has proved to be a great test to use previous experience and implement it at the club. At Heron Lakes, Carlos oversaw the entire operation including membership, accounting, social media, HR, all food & beverage, pool, and marketing. During his time at Heron Lakes, membership has grew by 50% along with improvements to both the food and beverage operation and membership satisfaction. Carlos has transitioned to the VP of Operations for Bloom Golf Management and travels to each course frequently to provide support for all operational needs. Carlos is married to his wife Eileen and father to an adopted puppy, Benny!
